Re-schedule the rally
Article Abstract:
The expected turnaround in the paper industry has failed to materialize, with vendors pointing to 3rd qtr 2001, as the time when things would start to improve. Prices for some paper grades have dropped from $20 to $30 in Mar 2001. Pulp substitutes and de-inked grades were hit hardest, passed up for Asian pulp sold on the open market at significantly reduced prices. Aggravating the situation is the uncertain financial status of US domestic consumers of de-inked grades.

Strength builds in paper markets
Article Abstract:
The paper stock business continues to perform satisfactorily, with higher pulp price pushing various pulp substitutes and deinking grades to bigger prices. Hard whites, sorted and manifold white ledger as well as computer paper are also attracting strong demand from within and outside the US. The strong demand has also resulted in the improvement of the business of deinked pulp to meet the government suggested recycled content levels.
