Regional recycling leads to cost savings
Article Abstract:
The joint recycling efforts of four Iowa counties namely Carroll, Audubon, Crawford and Shelby counties, under the Carroll County Solid Waste Management Commission and the ACS Counties Regional Solid Waste Agency are successful with the recycling of 5,181 tons of waste from the four county landfills. This success is attributed to the support and cooperation among the counties, the use of expert advice, the development of a Materials Recovery Facility and the setting aside of political rivalries.
