South East report sees opportunities for improvement and savings

A report commissioned by the South East Regional Management Board suggested potential improvements in the practice of fire and rescue services. The development and implementation of a formal learning and development strategy is recommended. Fire and rescue services in the South East of England have endorsed the report.

A three-year training and development strategy was introduced into the London Fire Brigade in July 2006. This strategy unified existing training strategies and integrated requirements of two national frameworks for firefighting.
