Underdrain plate for potable water filtering provides for retention of media
Article Abstract:
Tetra Technologies Inc. has come up with a water filtering system, an underdrain plate called Savage Plate. The new product is capable of retaining finer filtering media while improving filtration performance and boosting filtration efficacy. The Savage Plate has three layers of black, ultraviolet-resistant, porous high-density polyethylene resin. Its inner layer openings have a pore size of about 300 microns, while outer layers have about 500 microns. The Savage Plater has been successfully tested by the North Fayette County Municipal Authority on a 'U' Block-type underdrain.

Aeration technology adds productivity, saves money during contamination clean-up
Article Abstract:
Wasatch Environmental Inc's aeration technology, called Density-Driven Convection (DDC), has been proven to rid contaminants in less time and 50% more cost effective than other groundwater treatment methods. The DDC technology is said to be a very efficient alternative to both pump-and- treat and high-pressure air sparging systems. Moreover, well systems using DDC are easy to install and require less maintenance.

Accurate polymer feed system reduces time and cost for sludge dewatering
Article Abstract:
Bardley, IL-based USFilter Stranco Products' PolyBlend DP 2000, a dry polymer mixing and feed system, has been proven by a wastewater treatment plant in Oshkosh, WI, to be a very efficient anaerobic digestion system. The feed system was part of an upgrade in 1997 that converted the plant from wet air oxidation to anaerobic digestion. Since its installation, the system labor requirements have been reduced by 65%.
