United Water to sell several small utilities
Article Abstract:
United Water Resources Inc, US' second-biggest investor-owned water services firm, will sell six small utility subsidiaries to the American Water Works Co for around $49 million. These subsidiaries, which collectively provide water services to around 35,000 customers, are located in Virginia, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. The six smaller utilities are being sold because they did not necessarily reach the critical mass that the firm has in other locations, according to United Water Chairman and CEO Donald L Cornell.
