Troubleshooting the compost pile
Article Abstract:
Problems in the compost pile are often the result of the moisture content or the C:N ratio being incorrect. However, it is also important to consider other possible causes of compost pile problems. Attention must be given to the bulk density of the composting mixture, recognizing that composting will probably occur properly if bulk density is between around 800 lb per cubic yard and 1,000 lb per cubic yard. It is also important to be aware that too much air can have a negative impact on the composting process.
