A tribute to Colonel F M Bailey (1882-1967)
Article Abstract:
Colonel Frederick was a soldier, explorer, diplomat, intelligence officer, linguist and naturalist, a man of many talents and his name is synonymous with the Great Game. As member of the Society for 57 years, Bailey served on Council, and in 1045 became Honorary Librarian, a post he held for 15 years.

Eric Newby CBE MC
Article Abstract:
Eric Newby was well known for his vivid travel writing having traveled widely in the Middle East and Asia and also excelled as a wartime soldier, a distance runner and cyclist. Newby wrote twenty books of his own, with "A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush" being his most famous book.
