Asian studies: Issues and opportunities

Article Abstract:

The growth and development of Asia studies in the UK as a field of scholarship is discussed. The way in which Asia played an important part in British higher education namely in the form of significant numbers of students from Asia, mostly from East Asia, who study at the British Universities is discussed. Due to globalization it is seen that Asian studies is respected and recognized in the British Universities as a major field of academic enquiry.

Kashmir: A tale of two valleys

Article Abstract:

The two valleys of Kashmir i.e. Kashmir Valley and Neelum or Kishenganga Valley are described along with the pace of social and environmental change across Kashmir and some of the practical priorities for Kashmiris. While the Kashmir Valley continues to change rapidly, the Neelum Valley has been largely left undeveloped as it extends across the Line of Control dividing Indian and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

The Indus: Life-blood of Pakistan

Article Abstract:

The Indus is considered as the life-blood of Pakistan, which could not function without the support of this mighty river. Pakistan relies heavily upon the Indus for its economic prosperity and indeed the economic independence.
