Ring Lardner's You Know me Al: Up from popularity
Article Abstract:
Ring Lardner's critics dismissed him because he did not write a novel as he was more taken up with sports that were considered infra dig and unsuitable for literary art. Lardner's You Know Me Al, an epistolary book about a baseball player was a substantial contribution to American letters inspite of not being a novel and marked a watershed in the national perception of athletics, changing the nature of sports coverage.
