Minorities find it difficult to enter the high-tech field. Recruiters, who initially expected that the high-tech industry provides a balanced playing field for all kinds of applicants, are encouraging minorities to finish their studies to force employers to provide better projects for them.

Service-oriented companies account for about 23.5% of the total revenue of the 139 firms included in the leading 500 Hispanic-owned firms. Hispanic firms that show strong earnings are those engaged in business, health care and computer services, which posted total revenues of $951 mil.
