Dennis Duncanson, OBE
Article Abstract:
Dennis Duncanson was born in London, England in 1918. He studied at Dulwich College and at London University before proceeding to Sorbonne University after winning a scholarship. After his service in the Royal Berkshire Regiment in Norway and Africa, he entered the Malayan Civil Service in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was actively involved in the battle against communism as an intelligence officer. His experiences in Asian issues led to his establishment of the Centre for South East Asian Studies at the University of Kent. He died of a debilitating illness in 1998.

John Colvin devoted the greatest part of his career in the service of Vienna, Hanoi, and Mongolia. It was observed that he was genuinely fond of people and his output of books on various aspects of military history gave us a book almost every two years.
