Diverse directors: Demand exceeds supply: Study finds 16% of top 200 S and P 500 directors women; 15% minorities
Article Abstract:
The Spencer Stuart 2006 Board Diversity Report, based on an analysis of 2,357 directors of the top 200 S&P 500 companies, shows that 16% of the directors are women and 15% are ethnic minorities, but companies have reached these levels by recruiting from farther down management ranks and from the academic and non-profit worlds. US corporations are striving to increase the numbers of ethnic minorities and women on their boards as CEOs realize that board discussions are richer when individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives participate.
