MedPartners PhyCor call off merger plans
Article Abstract:
PhyCor and MedPartners, the US' two largest physician management firms, have called off their planned merger. The companies, citing strategic and management differences, claim that the decision to cancel the deal was mutual, but their quarterly financial statements suggest that deeper problems may have led to the deal's termination. MedPartners announced Jan 7, 1998, that it would take a $115 million pretax charge for 1997's fourth quarter.
