A conscious and inclusive family studies
Article Abstract:
It is argued that the idea of objectivity is used too often as a shield by those in positions of power to shape discourse in family studies to hide ideologically driven commitments. It is also argued that the ambiguities and complexities of subjective experiences should be acknowledged, confronted and integrated to help generate a more inclusive family studies that deals with the family diversity.

The families of lesbians and gay men: a new frontier in family research
Article Abstract:
A study of over 8,000 articles on gay and lesbian issues, published in journals from 1980 to 1993, reveals the deficient nature of reportage of family relationships of homosexuals of both sexes. This indicates the much-needed focus of researchers on family functioning of gay men and lesbians to provide insight on the family dynamics of these people.
