Can a pill prevent breast cancer?
Article Abstract:
Tamoxifen, a drug which prolongs the life of breast-cancer patients whose tumors are not yet malignant, has alarming side effects. The National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project reported in Apr. 1994 that there were two cases of endometrial cancer a year for every 1,000 women using the drug longer than five years.

Making strides against breast cancer
Article Abstract:
Tamoxifen, herceptin and xeloda are among the newest medications that either reduce the size of tumors or help to prevent recurrence of malignant cancerous cells. Breast cancer patients have benefitted from these drugs and hope further research will help to reduce the need for radiation or chemotherapy.
