Working moms are less likely to become more depressed and anxious because of job stress than single women, according to a Wellsley College survey of 371 women over a two-year period. Researchers concluded that family provides women with alternative satisfaction outside of workplace accomplishments.

When neighborhoods say no to daycare

Many neighborhoods try to use zoning regulations to restrict the entry or expansion of day care centers. Several child care activist legal organizations have succeeded in relaxing the zoning laws in 14 states, and will consult day care operators. Their phone numbers and addresses are listed.
