California hospital records of 1987 show that uninsured ill infants were discharged from the hospital an average of 2.5 days sooner than those whose parents carried insurance. A spokesman for the California Association of Hospitals acknowledges that hospitals make compromises to control costs.

Should you spank?

Experts tend to agree that spanking is ineffective at best, and at worst, it can harm the child and society as a whole. Corporal punishment teaches a child to avoid getting caught rather than teaching them appropriate behavior or to take responsibility for doing something wrong.
