Gifted children may benefit from advancing to the next grade in school, and they are unlikely to suffer problems with their social development if they do so. The factors to consider when skipping a grade include the child's attitude and ability and the teacher's opinion.

Parents of special children are confused by certain educational terminologies provided in the gifted-student programs. Included in the new terminologies are IEP for Individual Education Plan and magnet school, for schools with specific concentration such as the arts.
