Outcomes in a system of care for youths with emotional and behavioral disorders: an examination of differential change across clinical profiles
Article Abstract:
An empirically-derived classifications system was used to categorize youths with emotional and behavioral disorders in a system of care with strong representation of juvenile delinquents. This system made four clusters by categorizing patients based on their past history, current behavioral functioning and current psychological functioning. Upon its implementation, it was observed that the patients of the different clusters have significantly improved their emotional and behavioral functioning.

Differential effects of cognitive behavior modification on seriously emotionally disturbed adolescents exhibiting internalizing or externalizing problems
Article Abstract:
The study suggests that the conventional label-based approach to giving school-based treatment for seriously emotionally disturbed children must be replaced with a more 'diagnosis-specific' approach which permits factors such as symptomatology to be pivotal to the prescription of psychoeducational intervention. The implementation of intervention indicated that teacher ratings of student competence and school adjustment are sensitive to treatment effects.

Article Abstract:
The study of the relationship between marital discord and any Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children (DISC) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders child psychiatric diagnosis reveals that the rates of marital discord and DISC diagnoses are higher in the clinic sample as compared to the community sample. The consistency of data reinforces the theory of marital discord as a risk factor for child disorder.
