Step-family variations
Article Abstract:
Six varieties of stepfamily households have emerged in the 20th century. These are remarriages wherein the bride and groom were both previously married, where only the bride was previously married and where only the groom was. For these three types, the dissolution of the previous marriage may be either due to the death of a spouse or divorce. However, there are other stepfamily varieties where members are distributed over many households, such as a child belonging to two stepfamily households, 'living apart together' relationships and two divorced or widowed persons remaining in their households.

The process of family therapy: defining family as a collaborative enterprise
Article Abstract:
An approach to define a family through a family therapy process is presented. Unlike the Systems Theory that most family therapists use to define family, the approach provides five important information. These are the persons included within the family system, the relationship of each family member with one another, types of communication used, possible recognizable patterns formed by these communications and person or persons responsible for the family systems's equilibrium.
