The sebaceous glands and genitals of children can produce secretions that cause pimples, or smell even when no obvious signs of puberty are seen. Parents can help by teaching good hygiene and by introducing toiletries that are appropriate. Clean hair and feet with changes of shoes are essential.

Babies learn from their surroundings with the use of their five senses. Their sense of touch is developed by physical contact with persons and objects. Mothers' milk stimulate their taste buds and sense of smell. With their sense of hearing, babies are able to detect familiar voices.
