The divorce process and young children's well-being: a prospective analysis
Article Abstract:
A study of 1123 children to investigate the effects of divorce on their behavior and academic performance shows that girls experience no significant family disruption whereas boys have increased behavioral problems. The difference may be due to young age of children at the time of divorce or due to the small time interval of experiment. The post-divorce decrease in standard of living led to various behavioral problems in the children. Children of single-parent families are also more likely to develop marital problems of their own.

Parental conflict and marital disruption: do children benefit when high-conflict marriages are dissolved?
Article Abstract:
Marital disruption has a significant negative impact on children's behaviour problems. There is also a large, statistically significant connection between the effects of frequent marital conflict and disruption. However, it was not possible to find evidence for a benefit for children exiting high-conflict marriages. Children showed a four-point average rise in behaviour problems following parental separation and divorce, irrespective of the level of conflict that took place before the disruption.

Longitudinal effects of divorce on the quality of the father-child relationship and on fathers' psychological well being
Article Abstract:
Data from the National Survey of Families and Households was used to examine the effects of divorce on father-child relationship quality and the psychological well-being of the father. Results suggest that the effects are moderated by the residence of children. Divorce is linked with lower relationship quality for nonresident fathers, and a decline in happiness for coresident fathers.
