The prescription pressure
Article Abstract:
A pediatrician feels guilty for not prescribing antibiotics earlier for a young patient with a cold, despite his parents' wishes to the contrary. The doctor's earlier refusal to give the boy antibiotics was due to his anxieties about overprescription of the drugs. He concedes that parents and patients, aside from doctors and nurses, should be part of the decision on how to use and not abuse antibiotics.
