When to call a therapist
Article Abstract:
A child psychotherapist should only be sought if a child shows persistent emotional reactions to discipline or often exhibits aggressive behavior beyond age 4. A consultation is also necessary if a child's behavior has become disruptive and is the cause of his parents' constant exhaustion. Therapy involves an interview with parents, screening for developmental problems and managing the child's behavior.
