Article Abstract:

Most parents frown upon toys that overemphasize appearance, encourage violence or promote consumerism. Many toys, however, are quite harmless, even when they do not reflect parents' values. Far more important is how parents play with their children and whether children are exposed to a broad range of activities other than toys.
