Bias strips made easy

Bias strips are used for finishing an edge in a variety of ways. These can using a rotary cutter, cutting from a square that has been sewn in half or by cutting fabric folded into a tube. The best method depends on the length of the strip, equipment and how fine the finish needs to be on the seam.

Your very own cut velvet

Article Abstract:

Cut velvets can be readily made at home using a product called Fiber-Etch Fabric Remover. The process starts with placing a thin layer of gel to the wrong side of the fabric and ends with machine-drying the fabric. Cut velvets can be designed as scarves, lapels or pockets.

The simplest summer skirt

A single-layer, pull-on waist skirt with no pockets could be used for a bathing-suit cover-up or dressed up for dinner. Sheer chiffon in single or double layers or other lightweight fabrics could be used.
