Bloomsday: a long-forgotten painting
Article Abstract:
In 1959, artist Jay DeFeo, born to a doctor father worked on an eleven foot by eight foot painting titled 'The Rose', but the artist unfortunately did not live to see it being exhibited. The monumental painting that weighs more than a ton is conservator's nightmare. Nearly a quarter million dollars was spent in restoring it to its original glory.
