A 45-year-old woman who has been sewing since she was 14 narrates how sewing has evolved from being a playful activity to one that is of an obsessive-compulsive nature to her. She maintains that sewing has now become neither a funky nor a serious activity but more of a creative pursuit for her.

Skirting the issue

Article Abstract:

An ice-dance skater shares sewing ideas she adopted when she needed to make skating skirts for her dance tests performed in front of US Figure Skating Association judges. The first skating skirt was a miniskirt that was cut shorter, wider, longer in the back and worn with an elastic waistband.
