Running out of yardage while stitching need not always be cause for dismay and can, in fact, be considered a design opportunity. Some clever ways, both visible and unseen, to make up the difference when fabric runs short are presented.

Machine topstitch for a flat, strong, decorative finish

Article Abstract:

Topstitching is a row of evenly spaced straight stitches visible on the right side of a garment. Its main function is to anchor layers of fabric together, reinforce the edge and produce a very flat finish.
