Article Abstract:
The 1989 vintage was known as the 'vintage from hell' for many California wine makers. Heavy rains during the harvest caused significant damage. Despite the variable quality of the vintage, the year produced some memorable wines. Results from a retrospective tasting of 1989 Cabernets are presented.

Monterey's resurgence
Article Abstract:
Issues are presented concerning the resurgence of the wine produced by Monterey County, CA, following the replanting of vines which produced poor red wines in the 1970s.
