'91 California Cabernets are rich and fully ripe

Article Abstract:

Barrel samples of the 1991 California Cabernets indicate another good year, though perhaps not quite as good as 1990. Forty-two wines were tasted, some Cabernet Sauvignons and blends, and some Merlots and blends. A recap of California Cabernet vintages is included.

Californian Cabernets show their age

An analysis of three vintages of Californian Cabernet wine is presented. Details of the best producers and wines for 1970, 1980 and 1990 are given, with the 1970 and 1990 achieving the highest scores in blind tastings.
