Aldo Conterno Barolo Granbussia: a true "riserva" style from an old master in Piedmont

Article Abstract:

Poderi Aldo Conterno, owned by Aldo Conterno, has been making fine Barolo since 1969. The first vintage was released in 1970, and 1985, 1989 and 1990 are excellent vintages. Only about 600 cases of these highly popular wines are produced each year.

Gancia makes a softer Barolo

Article Abstract:

Gancia paid $570,000 to purchase 5.9 acres in the renowned Cannubi vineyard area in 1988, and the result is a 1989 Barolo Ca dei Gancia to be released soon. The wine, made in the Bordeaux style, is excellent. It will sell for $72 a bottle.

Gaja makes first Barolo

Article Abstract:

Gaja's first Barolo is very good, and the 1988 wine that will be released in the fall of 1993 will cost $62 a bottle. Gaja held the wine longer for aging, and the results are worth the wait. The new wine will be called Sperss.
