Gallo of Sonoma's battle with TCA: tests show taint in cellar and numerous wines
Article Abstract:
The Dry Creek Valley winery and cellar of the Gallo of Sonoma was tainted by a chemical compound, TCA (2,4,6 trichloranisole) that led to off flavors in corky wines. However, according to Gallo, the chlorine-based products that were used to clean the winery may be responsible for the spread of TCA.
