Napa Valley's food-and-wine center seeks national stardom with new projects

Article Abstract:

The main goal of Copia, the American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts, in Napa Valley is to establish a national reputation for what essentially has been a regional institution. Most prominent among the plans include a glitzy awards gala to be produced by Michael Seligman, a veteran of the Academy and Emmy awards broadcasts, and other projects that give visitors more reason to come to Copia's Napa facility.

The Grand Award banquet, a black-tie event included three days of tastings and seminars at the magazine Wine Spectator's annual Wine Experience. Francis Ford Coppola, the director of many film classics was honored at the Grand Award banquet, which also featured a performance, by singer and songwriter Paul Anka.
