New service helps decide weather to shop or weather not
Article Abstract:
The UK's Meteorological Office is providing retailers and their suppliers with a new weather service. The service, known as 'The Weather Initiative', allows customers access to weather forecasts that will enable them to predict what products will be sold at particular times. Some 40 product areas are covered by the initiative, including carbonated drinks, ice cream and pet food, but it is planned to expand the range to include products such as sugar, deodorants and pickles.
