New twist on confusing labels

Some wine companies have been engaging in some misleading marketing tactics. New York vintner Canandaiuga labels its Via Firenze wine in such a manner that the casual observer would not note that the wine is of Californian origin. In addition, below the Napa Valley appellation it states that the wine is a Tuscan style blend where the wine comes from grapes with French descendants.

Truth in tasting

Article Abstract:

In this answer to an allegation by a winemaker that 'Wine Spectator' only rates wines that are advertised in the magazine, an editor reveals how wine tastings are conducted. Wine bottles are wrapped in bags to hide their labels, and tasters do not know what producers' wines they are tasting. Wine tasters for the magazine try to taste every wine submitted to them.

Globe-trotters: peripatetic lifestyles help two flight attendants to diversify their wine collection

Article Abstract:

Kristine Rucinski and Marcia Cegavski are flight attendants who use their schedule of work and travel to add to their wine collection. The two live in Chicago, IL and house their 25 case collection of wine. They began by retrieving bottles for a collector who paid them in bottles from his collection.
