The white wine Riesling is usually associated with Germany, but is also made in other parts of the world. Riesling's popularity has waned, but some of the more mature wines have great potential for wine cellars and are still cheap to buy in 2001.

Issues are presented concerning the changes which have occurred in the wine industry in the last quarter of the 20th Century. The increase which has occurred in the diversity of wine and wine producers is discussed.
