Budweiser has signed up sports announcer Michael Buffer to promote its Budweiser brand of beer. The firm, which supports the boxing profession, intends to associate the Budweiser brand with Buffer's trademark phrase 'Let's get ready to rummmbbuullll! Buffer's stint will include appearances in television, radio and print advertisements as well as serve as ring announcer at many professional boxing events sponsored by the brand. Furthermore, Buffer will make personal appearances to promote Budweiser with his likeness appearing on boxing-themed point-of-sale materials such as a 6-ft-tall standup, table tends, counter cars and imprintable banners.

Miller Lite beer has launched an off-premise advertising campaign that depicts NASCAR star Rusty Wallace in a Miller Time Machine enjoining consumers to fantasize on their choice of destination given a chance to own a new Ford Taurus, its major prize in the ad promotion. Other prizes include leather jackets, Miller Time Matco tools, portable CD players, CDs or a trip to Daytona, FL, to attend the stockcar races. The drinking consumers get a chance to choose a destination through tearpad entry forms available at Miller displays on off-premise accounts. A sweepstakes drawing by the end of July 1998 will select all the winners.
