Strong demand boosts prices for '95 Bordeaux futures

Article Abstract:

Advanced demand for a superb crop drove France's leading Bordeaux estates to released their best 1995 wines at futures prices matching 1989 record levels in some cases. Mouton-Rothschild, Margaux and Haut-Brion first growths sold for 230 francs. These bottles should sell for $125 in the US in 1998.

Bordeaux futures fall by 20 percent

Article Abstract:

The 1992 first-growths from Mouton-Rothschild and Margaux are priced lower for the second year. Negociants expect sales to be down, as 1992 was not a good vintage for Bordeaux. Bad weather affected the vintage.

Prices up 20 percent for top '97 Bordeaux futures

Article Abstract:

The top wines of Bordeaux are in high demand in 1998 for the third consecutive year. Futures for the 1997 vintage cost an average of 20% more than their 1996 counterparts, despite lower quality.
