Swift integration of Dr Pepper helps keep Cadbury on target
Article Abstract:
Cadbury-Schweppes of the UK, a confectionery and beverages company, has reported a rise in both sales and profits for the first half of 1995 helped by first time contributions from Dr Pepper/Seven-Up, a recently acquired soft drinks group. The company's joint venture with Coca-Cola, CCSB, was affected by increased raw material costs and competition from own-label colas. World confectionery profits increased 9% to 102 million pounds sterling, on sales up 5% to 840 million pounds sterling.

Cadbury Schweppes of the UK, a confectionery and soft drinks group, saw interim profits increased by 12% to 231 million pounds sterling on sales up 13% to 2.3 billion. This was helped by the purchase of Dr Pepper/Seven-Up of the US, a drinks group. Confectionery sales in the UK rose with both Cadbury and Trebor Basset improving volumes and market share. Poor summer weather in Australia affected all the company's drinks brands apart from Cottee's.
