California Syrah: getting to the bottom of the warm-hearted reds

Article Abstract:

Many myths surround the origination of the Syrah grape, which is called Shiraz in Australia. Ongoing research shows that this red wine grape is indigenous to the Rhone Valley region. By 1884 enough of the grape was in California for research work at the new Univ of California, School of Agriculture.
