Computer training and service learning in school nutrition service
Article Abstract:
The dietetic program developed by the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Akron in OH with funding from the American Dietetic Assn integrated state-of-the-art computer software technology with actual lunch program experience. Coordinated Program students are afforded practical experience by emphasizing on methods that facilitate compliance with Dept of Agriculture guidelines. The NUTRIKIDS software package was used to reinforce training in school food service and document aggregate food production and costing.

Using low-literacy newsletters to provide nutrition education for limited-resource individuals
Article Abstract:
Alabama's Nutrition Education Program has provided new opportunities to reach limited-resource individuals and food stamp recipients. It uses a variety of techniques, namely, food demonstrations, display exhibits and class series and single presentations, to reach this sector. The primary goal of the program was to disseminate information on nutrition while the secondary aim was to create a database of limited-resource individuals willing to participate in further assessment.s
