Is weight loss hazardous?
Article Abstract:
Weight loss and weight fluctuations in obese people may translate into short-term benefits without decreasing mortality, contrary to popular belief. Although obesity increases the risk of heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, no distinction between voluntary and involuntary weight loss can be made. It seems impossible to extricate the influence of other factors, such as tobacco and alcohol consumption. In view of this, it may be more prudent to avoid obesity altogether during childhood and adolescence.

Influence of altered body weight on energy expenditure
Article Abstract:
Change in body weight occurs during long-term imbalances between energy intake and energy expenditure. The body expenditure rises and lowers with respect to overfeeding and underfeeding. Lean and over-weight individuals have such variations in energy expenditure in contrast to the common concept of metabolic body volume and energy metabolism. A survey is conducted on several individuals to assess the metabolic changes for changing body weight.

Physical inactivity and metabolic factors as predictors of weight gain
Article Abstract:
Energy expenditure via exercise generally can counteract weight gain after excessive food intake. The muscles play an as yet unidentified regulatory role during this balancing act. Lipid balance may be impaired in the short term, requiring increased fat storage. The ability to oxidize lipids may not function normally in obese individuals. Physical inactivity may cause a biochemical changes in carbohydrate oxidation in the muscle cell.
