Carbohydrates and exercise performance
Article Abstract:
Carbohydrates eaten prior to and during exercise performance may be particularly effective for short, intense types of exercise by delaying rather than preventing muscle fatigue. Eating carbohydrates results in large amounts of glycogens in the muscle structure, producing better endurance, better performance and less fatigue. Low-carbohydrate diets, on the other hand, may cause an adaptive response or improved performance in the short term.
