Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program: perceptions of benefits and effect of welfare reform

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) in Larimer County, CO. A total of 64 respondents participated in a survey consisting of qualitative and quantitative components as well as demographics questions. Results indicate that participants are not using the program as a temporary program but as a regular means of enhancing their food supply. Findings support the hypothesis that stretching food resources is the primary perceived benefit of TEFAP.
