Consolidated Sawmill Machinery International Inc (CSMI) was established from the acquisition of Harvey Industries by Hawker Siddeley Canada Inc in Dec 1992. CSMI, one of North America's major and diverse sawmill machinery firms, has a manufacturing division in Portland, OR, and another one in Hot Springs, AR. In 1993, the firm plans to equip many new sawmill programs around the world with its many new lumber handling systems. Future parts and service plant expansions are planned in 1993 in British Columbia and the southeastern US.

Article Abstract:
CAE Machinery Ltd has a well-developed research and development program that enables the firm to remain in the forefront of lumber handling machinery. It will produce and market a debarker that can work with branches of only 2 inches or logs as large as 24 inches. The machine will process uneven logs and inside log areas that had been previously almost impossible to process effectively. A license agreement with Fuji Kogyo Company Ltd will assist in the development of this machine.
