Oregon glulam plants have plastic advantage
Article Abstract:
Elk River Enterprises is using aramid fiber reinforcing materials and carbon reinforced plastics to manufacture better quality wooden glulam beams at its Oregon plants. Use of vinyl ester thermosetting resins containing high performance polyethylene and Akzo Nobel carbon and aramid fibers has helped the company reinforce the wooden beams partially or totally. Elk River Enterprises has also increased the wooden beams' shear strength from 140 psi to 265 psi and bending strength from 2,400 psi to 3,600 psi.

A Disaggregate Population Model of China
Article Abstract:
This population model of China analyzes population problems and projects the size and composition of the population. DYNAMO simulation language is used to implement the model. Overpopulation necessitates the control of population growth. This model can be used to evaluate various programs that have been formulated to control that growth. Economic, environmental, political, cultural, social and technical factors are considered. Graphs and tables depicting these factors are included.

Gradients in spatial response surfaces with application to urban land values
Article Abstract:
Analysis of directional gradients associated with the response surface X (super T) (s) beta(s) or with the components of beta(s) and with linear combinations of multivariate processes is described. The motivation of the work is the desire to examine urban land value gradients.
