Damon J. Keith selected for Thurgood Marshall Award
Article Abstract:
US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Senior Judge Damon J. Keith is being awarded the ABA Section on Individual Rights & Responsibilities' 1997 Thurgood Marshall Award for his commitment to civil rights. He has served on the Court since 1977 and has authored many decisions supportive of the rights of women and minorities. He has inspired many other civil rights attorneys through his mentoring efforts and has hired more minority law clerks than any other federal judge in history. The award will be presented at the ABA Annual Meeting on Aug. 2, 1997.
