Lahout's store
Article Abstract:
Lahout's Country Store and Ski Shop in Littleton, NH, is more general store than ski shop, though it is considered the oldest ski shop in the US. Started by Lebanese immigrant Herb Lahout, who came to the US in 1899, it is now run by his grandson Joe.

The famous war correspondent did not have much regard for New England in his previous trips there, but an encounter with an erudite policeman while driving in Boston gave him a deeper appreciation and understanding of the place.
