An Olympic athlete who suffers from severe asthma describes how the condition helped him become a world-class athlete. He learned about focus and diligence about caring for his body through the creation of a management plan that allowed him to continue swimming despite his asthma.

More people suffer from asthma attacks every year, but better medicines and equipment to treat acute attacks are now available. Tips for using such medicines and equipment, such as inhalers and peak flow meters, and signs of physical danger that accompany asthma, are given.

Article Abstract:

The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology sponsored the Consulting Allergist Network to treat allergy patients in inner cities. The project will be expanded to other areas if it is successful.
